As an English teacher, I might get in trouble for saying this, but I felt like the book had way too many metaphors and flowery language. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate a good metaphor, and I definitely appreciate elevated, flowery language, but in this particular text, I felt like it was too distracting. There just wasn't enough story for me.
