Emma was such a delight to read. I finished this morning in preparation for a book discussion later and I'm still swooning. I have so much to say but I've got to keep it swirling around my head for tonight.

Hmmm... I sorta felt like I was in on a gossip circle the whole time I was reading it. I am rather glad it all worked out for Emma in the end though, and equally glad she learned her lesson. Not my favorite Austen book. I love Austen for her ability to create strong female characters, even in their time you can see their strength and wisdom. In Emma all I saw was a child, but I suppose that is what Austen, needed to create a humble character that learns lessons in the end.

I did not enjoy this Jane Austen book as well as I have all of the others I have read. It is probably because it is not the romance that the others are. Emma is probably the most "real" of Austen's characters; unfortunately, few read Austen to find reality.
