I read and watch every good retelling and adaptation or re-imagination of it, whenever I come across one. I don't know what it is about this story that pulls me so. Is it the slow change of perception? Is it the combination of the progressing towards a great romance and realizing the need for respect and moralilty at the same time? What I found most amazing about this book is how timeless it seems to be. Remove the habits and culture of the period, and you could be reading about families and friends of today. As I read the book, I could pick out people I know whose personalities match those of Austen's characters. I could read this book again - something I rarely do!
