What Members Thought

I’ve just put this book down for a re-read and can’t help but muse, as Cassandra would. I muse over the reviews, where some claim this novel inextricably changed the trajectory of the reader’s very life, while others can only curse its absurd storyline. All I muse on is that each review seems to be written in the style and cadence of Cassandra’s inner dialogue, which means to say that the power of a narrator is not one to be diminished, whether one loved or loathed.

I really enjoyed this book. Set in Britain in the 1950s, it's about an eccentric family living in genteel poverty in a dilapidated castle. It's the journal of a teenage girl with lots of very funny scenes.

J'ai remarqué que lorsqu'on imagine des choses, elles ne se produisent jamais dans la vraie vie, donc je me retiens.
