I loved this book and I didn't want it to end. It is a historical fiction fantasy novel where a Golem and a Jinni happen to meet in the turn of the century New York. Being the only two creatures to understand their own struggles with day to day human life they strike up a friendship. When their past mistakes come back to haunt them they must find a way to fight together for their own futures. The pacing of the novel is deliberately slow. I think I might have liked this better had I read this instead of listening. While the narrator wasn't bad, he sounded old which didn't match the characters he was voicing. That took me away from novel too many times, which is why I might not have felt invested in the characters.
