4.5 stars. I really did enjoy this, although I think it might have been even better being read by someone other than Rob Reiner. Still, his enthusiasm and excitement DID come through and for that I give him kudos. For the most part, the book and movie parallel each other quite well although there were some scenes in the movie (Billy Crystal and Carol Kane's interactions) that were missing from the book, which made me sad. I've watched the movie a million times, like many others, but have never read the book. What a gem, what a treasure, what a delight of word-play and imagery and just plain fun. Awesome.

I must confess, though: Buttercup is annoying as hell.

I read this for the 2015 PopSugar challenge. Liked the movie better than the book and am not rushing to encourage my kids to read this though they have already seen the movie with me. I liked the action of the movie though it was nice to get inside the character's heads better with the book. ...more

I didn't like this as much as I thought I would. It's probably because I didn't find the characters interesting in the least even though I liked the storytelling style. I admit I had to mostly skim read the last quarter of the book because I just wanted it to get over. I think I'd probably enjoy the movie more. ...more
