I was wildly enthusiastic about this amazing story and wanted to tell all my friends it is a must-read... so original, strange, and entertaining! Then I read some of the other Goodreads reviews and saw it must not be for everyone. Some think it is only for a certain TYPE of reader. I must be that type. I was so very happy to be reading (well, audio-reading or listening as some would say) ... such a fantastic story.

It is told in first person by a man living in a huge house with hundreds of rooms

This book felt confusing at first, but the beautiful language and the mysterious, fantasy setting being slowly revealed kept me intensely interested, until suddenly, much like the story arc for the main character, the true Beauty, Poignancy and Messages of the book began to reveal themselves. I found the character Piranesi to be highly relatable, and a book I intend to reread and come back to, especially passages I have underlined.

I'm not sure how a novel that is 245 pages long can feel both epic and masterfully create a world, yet here we are with Piranesi. I devoured this novel and felt all the emotions. I don't want to say too much just know this book is both magical, beautiful and at times horrifying. ...more
