I really enjoyed this. I don't usually like novels written in letter format but it seemed to work very well for this story. I finally picked this up after watching Tony Robinson's Walking Through History about the Channel Isles during the five year Nazi Occupation. What a wonderful book. It showed the best and worst in people. I laughed, I was disgusted, I was really moved. A favorite of the year.

I absolutely LOVED this book! When I started it, I was completely confused with all the letters going back and forth and had no clue who anyone was or what was going on. But I'm glad I kept reading because I quickly knew and loved the characters. What a fun story! ...more

Apparently the second time I read this but never logged the first time. Knew as soon as I started that I had read it before but could not remember how it ended so just read again. Love this book.
