Let me be completely honest: I fully expected to hate this book.
I wasn't actually going to pick it up, since it seemed very much Not My Thing -- especially since I don't really like dragons! But then my library had the audiobook available randomly and I was like, "what the hell? Why not try it?"

It's eye-roll-y and ridiculous and pulpy and some of the YA fantasy tropes were so frustrating. The love interests both deserved ...more

I loved this book, I loved this book, I loved this book!!!!
OMG I loved this book. I was a bit sceptical after hearing and reading so much about this tale. Well they were all correct.
From the when Violet started to walk across the parapet, I was hooked. Violet makes friends and enemies while training. I loved how the tension is built between the students and the Violet and the leader of the Fourth Wings.
The only downside is that I have to wait till November 2023 before "Iron Flame" is released.
Read this, its a well written tale.

It was fun to read the first book of the series and get to know this new world that Yarros created. I’m not rushing to read the rest of the series but when I’m looking for Hunger Games meets dragons, sex and magic - I’m there.
