This is a beautiful story of sisterhood. It is the story of the strength and endurance of women who live in a world of not only racial oppression, but also a world in which they are socially inferior to the males in their lives.
It is an epistolary novel and I loved the narration. Celie and Nettie's distinct storytelling offer glimpses into each sister's world. Although apart, their closeness is apparent in the hopes and dreams shared in their letters.
