4.5⭐️ I found myself completely wrapped up in Kya’s life and enjoyed every bit of her story.

Sometimes books are exactly what you need at that time and this was that. I loved every page of it - the writing was poetic, creating a sense that the reader is simply a bird above watching the story unfold. The build up and feeling of pressure and tension unfolded in me as I read. I feel like I’m going to miss the main character.

I absolutely loved this book. It is truly a love letter to nature the marshlands in North Carolina. Of all the debut novels I have read this year, this one is the best by far. I can’t wait to see what Delia Owens writes next.

I found myself only slightly interested in the characters of this book, switching from hard copy to audio a third of the way in so I could multi task while I finished it. Interesting survival story but predictable at best. I don’t think it lived up to the hype, but it will make for a good book club discussion.

Wasn’t sure it would live up to all of the hype. I enjoyed it more than I expected. The swamp setting was unique and the strong female protagonist really kept me engaged.

This is one of those books that I was sorry to have end. Good writing, good story. I wasn't shocked by the ending since I had figured it down to three scenarios, and one of them was right. ...more
