Nadine in NY Jones

As they traveled, the star cursed the day she had fallen to this wet, unfriendly world. It had seemed so gentle and welcoming when seen from high in the sky. That was before. Now, she hated everything about it, except the unicorn; and, saddle sore and uncomfortable, she would have even happily spent time away from the unicorn.

I was a little nervous to read this. I loved the movie, my kids and I have watched it a bunch of times, and a lot of reviews say the movie was better than the book. I u

Even better on audiobook read by Neil Gaiman as reading it in print. Wonderful! (Not quite kid appropriate, though)

4.5 stars. I really liked this book. Set in a world where "normal" England and the world of Faerie are separated only by a wall, Stardust follows the story of young Tristran Thorn on his quest to retrieve a fallen star to win the heart of the most beautiful girl in his small town. I don't know why anyone would ever prefer a movie version to a book version of a story. This was SOOOO much better than the movie, and I loved the movie.

I saw the movie and knew I had to read the book. I actually found the movie a bit more uplifting, but thought this was a really fun escape book in the vein of Princess Bride. A love story, an adventure, and a fantasy tale all in one - this is a great quick read. Highly recommended!

Delightful tale with a sprinkling of darkness. Very much the feeling of a Grimm fairy tale. Looking forward to seeing the movie.
