What Members Thought

It was quite good. I didn't cry like many have while reading, but I listened on audio so that might have something to do with it. A lovely story that reminds us that we all have something to live for.

No idea why a person of Ove's age was made out to be so old; the author's constant references about his age would have made more sense for a much older adult (unless in Sweden 60 is the end of the road for all things vibrant and dynamic).
There were occasions when I hollered and laughed, especially the driving lesson. The neighbor and her daughters were my favorite characters, and I wish they had been given more depth and development.

A Man Called Ove burb on the back didn't make me want to read this novel. My daughter loved it and told me to read it. I found it difficult to get into the story at first; it seemed to confirm that Ove was a grumpy old man.
But I was won over bit by bit and then I couldn't put it down; I then devoured it and became a hugh Ove fan.
I cried at the end (as my daughter told me I would). I'm going to try more of Fredrik Backman stories.

AMAZING book. This is the second book from this author I have read and I LOVE him. I LOVED Ove in this book so much. His character is like one of the character from the movie Grumpy Old Men. He was so feisty and was always grumbling about something or someone but that added to his charm and made this book so funny. This book had me laughing out loud through so many of it's pages. I love Ove's back story growing up and his present story simply made you laugh and cry.

Love, love, love! Didn't want it to end!

I loved almost everything about this book, except that it ended. It curmudgeonly bore itself into my heart. The characters flow off the page and into the readers heart. I laughed, I cried, I laughed and cried some more. A novel about love, survival through grief, and those unlikely people in our life that bring us out of our grief and help us to live again.
