This book is wonderful and I'm a little bit sad that I've finished reading it. The story mostly takes place during the years leading up to and during WWII and is mostly told through two main separate characters and their own stories, a bright young French girl that is blind and a very smart orphaned German. Each of them deal with loss, have a deep respect of life and family, and try to look beyond the madness of the time. Their stories are woven together and intersect very briefly and beautifull
