What a beautiful book. I can’t understand why, but it took me three shots to give this book my full efforts. After months of picking it up, putting it down, starting over, repeat; I decided enough was enough. I wanted to finish this book!
I’m so glad I did.
The characters and interwoven stories are beautiful, and this book is one that will stick with me forever. Once I was hooked, which was about a quarter of the way through, I breezed right through to the end.

While the premise of this book was very interesting, the only word I can use to describe it is...plodding.
This is a war story, a fable, a coming-of-age story that is haunting, beautiful, and deeply moving. Highly recommended!
