This.... is hard to quantify. It is a book that started slow & confusing and certainly didn't end as expected. It is a book that I listened to on audio for a reading challenge in one of my myriad of book clubs and one that I almost sat down several times. It is a quirk of mine that if an audio fails to grab my imagination, I am just as prone to falling asleep than to follow along. However, the beautiful prose and the circus itself finally caught my attention once I figured out the way the concur

Such an enchanting book! Read the last 100 pages last night and even though my eyes and brain were telling me to sleep, the words kept drawing me in...keeping me up. I loved that this connected from the beginning to the end. The romance seemed a little much at times but it was well done. The protagonist is extremely interesting. Overall I was astonished as to how 'yummy' this book was. I wanted to eat everything in it, and the air of mystery and magic was done artfully. The interwoven relationships are the strength of this book and the rich themes of Merlin, rebirth, time, and death recur throughout the book. A sumptuous read for sure.
