What Members Thought
I wanted to love this, but it just didn’t work for me. The setup was promising—classic King with a mysterious old man and a hidden world—but once the fantasy elements kicked in, the story lost momentum. It felt overly long and meandering, and I never really connected with the characters or stakes. There were flashes of creativity, but overall it dragged and didn’t deliver the magic I was hoping for.
I have not read Stephen King since high school - I read this book for our local book-club. I fell in love with Stephen King all over again.
I really enjoyed this one and how Stephen King morphed the fairy tales we know to shape this story.
