5 stars for the first third of the book. It reminded me of Stand By Me in the best way. 3 stars for the second and third acts. It was a weird combo of Maze Runner and Hunger Games. The resolution was nice though.

I don't read horror but I appreciate the non-horror movies that King has written, so this one intrigued me. Gross things and fighting kind of bore me, so that took away from the fantastic parts. There were a few too many characters to get attached to any besides Charlie and Radar.

I’ve read pretty much everything by Stephen King and I think each of them gets better. Another old man and young man King novel, but I enjoyed it.

If I was given this book, without knowing the name of the author I would never have guessed this was a Stephen King novel. After reading so many of his horror stories, I forget that his stories are not all horror based! This was a fun read and one that I could put down and could come back to read just a snippet or so and jump right back into the other world! So many fun literary references and fairy tale (pun intended) themes.

read furiously while at a rainy beach weekend.

I really liked it, perfect escapism, sweet and sinister, and a lovely entry into the swath of new fairy tales being written.
