Fair warning - the book is written in frank soldierly language; I will critique it in kind.
At one level, this is a straight up 'fatherly' self-help book. Its message is simple. Stop procrastinating, stop making excuses, and get your sorry ass to work. No tricks; no magic; just do it. This is Pressfield channeling the DI. But beyond that, and what makes this more than just a swift kick in the pants to someone that is down, is that this is fundamentally a spiritual, theological book.

The best book about writing and the creative process I've ever read.

If you are a writer, this book is your Bible. It is a handbook for overcoming the resistance that we writers confront every single time we sit down in front of a blank screen. Pressfield is amazing and this book was my inspiration to get to work on my first book and bring it to completion. No writer's library should be without it. Use it as a daily devotional and you'll slay the resistance demon every time.

Ok this book helped me a lot. Thh ending was annoying but the insight and the idea that someone else "got it" was spectacular.
