Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson, #2) in The Mortal Instruments

Well it was great to read Blood Bound because I had missed Mercy, it has been a little since I read Moon Called so a good Mercy fix was in order.

As in Moon Called, Briggs managed to captivate me from the first couple of pages.

One of the real joys personally is the slow world building going on in the Mercy Thompson series. I know, I have only read the first two, but still I do recognise it. Iron Kissed (the thrid book in the series for those not familiar) is again building on the world, I believe Well it was great to read Blood Bound because I had missed Mercy, it has been a little since I read Moon Called so a good Mercy fix was in order.

I was talking the other day with a friend and the catagory of our favourite book series did come up--we have very similar tastes in books, so we can usually mention the title of a book and have an hour conversation from there on about it. Some say odd, I say therapeutic--whoops, a tad off course, but back to what was going on before the tangent. So when we were talking about our favourite series, one thing that did come up was that it can be very hard for authors to have the same characters' POV throughout a whole book series and keep it as delicious in the 8th book as it did in the first, and we both agreed that Briggs does this exceptionally well. Don't get me wrong, I love series' where the main man, or lady (let's not be sexist now) changes each book and you learn from them more and more each time and through their eyes. Though it is great to have more and more Mercy every time.

One teeny, tiny low for me is that, whenever we seem to get on a roll with Adam and Mercy...it stops!!! As a confessed lover of PNR I do wish that there was possibly a little more time with just them talking (honestly, just talking. Yep, I do love a little feelings on show), but I suppose this is something that Briggs does well--suspense!!!, after each book finishes I turn the page, knowing it will be blank, but hoping in the pits of my soul that there will be more. So I become a crazed animal and a thoughtful freak all in one, stomping around the house, outside, sometimes I actually have to put on my joggers and go for a run, all the while my mind is half-calmly/half-not so calmly thinking of further possibilities, or going over my favourite parts of the book.

Still Blood Bound is a great book, and can I just mention this cover, and all the Mercy Thompson book covers??? They are just great. I would love to blow them up and have at least one on my wall!!! Blood Bound is my favourite cover in the series closely followed by River Marked.

I am so excited to get my teeth into Iron Kissed, it is ordered and on its way!!! ...more

Blood Bound is full of mystery and light on romance - though there is a triangle going on (which sort of became a square) but those of you who arent fond of love triangles will be pleased to know it doesnt over shadow the action and mystery solving its more of a side dish than a main meal. As for the heroine, I like Mercy; shes tough, loyal and smart with a sharp tongue and seems to have developed since Moon Called, which after reading i wasn't sure if i'd stick with the series but im glad i pic ...more

This series is wonderful. An awesome mix of fantasy with mystery. Patricia does a great job of hiding the killer until she decides to reveal it. Love it!
