Since I really enjoyed reading Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, I was looking forward to this book by the same author. But, the story just didn't do anything for me and I finally gave up on it. Actually had to add a new "couldn't finish" book shelf on Good Reads to put this book. And I can't figure out how to get it off my "read" shelf.

Peony in Love was such an amazing book. I read this in 2 1/2 days. It was impossible to put it down. The story is very different from anything I have read. It is a wonderful story about Chinese traditions, Love sickness and death.
I learned a lot about Chineese customs and how they are matched from the time they are born and it does not matter how much they may be in love with someone else, it is their fate. I also learned a lot about their ancestor worship.
I loved the tradition and historical accuracy, but was disappointed in some of the fantasy elements. I do think it would make a visually stunning film though.
