What Members Thought
This is a gorgeous and well researched piece of historical fiction. I was familiar with many of the major events, people, and places seen in [i]Shanghai Girls[/i] from an academic perspective, but See really brings these pieces of history to life through her descriptions of the lives of sisters Pearl and May. Writing the previous sentence just now, I actually typed 'the life of sisters Pearl and May'... and that would actually not have been an unjust description of this book. The sisters' lives
