4.5 Stars. I really liked this book, and I would've given it 5 stars, except I wasn't crazy about Lissa for most of the book and Rose is too slutty. (But they both get better as the series goes on.)

I thought the book was well written, but started a little slow, i.e. was a confusing at first. I felt like I hadn't read the first book, but checked again and saw this was the first book. Later on it finally made sense. I'm more of traditional "vampire-est", so have vampire protectors and two different kinds of vampires seemed to stretch it a little for me. Overall I enjoyed the read, but I'm not in a hurry to start the second one. ...more
