This book is about a girl, Chela, who is related to the angels and is trying to solve the mystery of her brother's accident. She meets a lot of characters along the way and has powers that she never knew she had.

A bleak future after a nuclear war. Chromosome gifted people (or as Marvel comics would say - mutants) live in the cities, apparently as some kind of ruling class. Somewhere in the past there was also a war between two factions of angel decendents, which lead to all people with angel blood being considered outlaw.

A young girl tries to safe her comatose brother's life. There are intriques, mysteries, sword fights and were-beasts. There are also robotic birds and a perpetual state of being watched A bleak future after a nuclear war. All that should have made me love this book. Sadly, I am forced to admit that something was lacking from the story.

If 'When Copper Suns Fall' were created as a movie or tv series, the sparse descriptions of the culture and history would have made sense to me. The no doubt very impressive visuals of the screen medium would have been able to carry the story and made us forget that while there are at least maybe twenty characters mentioned in the book, they are mostly all just given names without anything else behind it. It would have been no problem, because we would have had a face to keep the characters apart, instead of helplessly grasping at names that mean nothing to the reader (as happened to me here).

Also what I really, really, really missed in the story was an explanation as to what the certain kinds of chromo gifted people could do. We are told that there are Trackers who can follow a person practically anywhere, but somehow they are using technology to do this. If they are some kind of human blood hounds that canliterally smell someone out, why do they need machines to do their job? The same goes with the Thoughmasters. Are they telepaths, empaths, stage actors? Or is Thoughtmaster just a glorified word for interrogator?

Then we are told that the Caduceans are good angel guys and the Tainted are the bad guys. Strangely it is the Caduceans who continuously lie/obfuscate to the narrator for her own good, or they delete her memory. The Tainted, as much as they seem to do evil things with the zombification and attemps to world domination, have not been anything but dead honest as far as I could see.

Because of this I am not so sure if our narrator is on the right side of this celestial conflict. Something just did not ring true for me there. ...more

It was captivating, wonderfully written and a stunning debut into the YA world. If you haven't had a chance to read this book you need to as soon as it is released! It was extremely unique and has a story line that pulls you in until you can't believe you've already reached the end of the book!

When Copper Suns Fall tells is set in a dystopian society set in 2067, 55 years after the war Tidal Waves struck American and the country as we know it has been completely changed. KaSonndra Leigh does a wonderful job mixing paranormal in with a dystopian society. When the celestial beings had their war 55 years prior between the light and dark every thing that lived on the planet suffered. Some time after the war the Nation Corunum was brought together and this is where Chela Prizeon (our main character) lives.

Chela is a strong, selfless and courageous lead character. I instantly loved her. The story starts off with Chela fighting the people taking care of her twin brother Micah, who is in a coma, they want to give up hope on him and use his body for research. Chela cannot let this happen and she is determined to find a way to stop them. As soon as she makes her decision to do this her life catapults in a new direction. Chela finds out that there is something different about her and her brother. She finds that she is filled with this power that could possibly change the world. I loved that Chela was so determined and strong willed. She fights for everything and everyone she loves and cares for.

Chela doesn't have to fight alone though. Faris is a mysterious guy who as soon as he enters Chela's life changes things. He is filled to the brim with secrets that leave you dying to figure out. They do unfolds as the story moves on and what you find out leaves you breathless. He is a swoon worthy guy and is as devoted to protecting Chela as she is him.

What else can I say besides that I loved this book so much! I absolutely loved Chela and Faris! The story was wonderfully written in a way that the reader is swept up in it. I never wanted it to end and I cannot wait until the sequel is released! I'm tell you people you don't want to miss this one!!

In a world built out of a war between fallen angels and angels, Chela is not supposed to exist. her mother was an angel and she is a half-blood (though the government denies such people can exist). And she soon finds out that much of what she has been told is lies and mysterious people (good? bad? Hard to tell?) appear who change her life forever.

Great puzzles and action as Chela tries to find the truth and overcome betrayals and secrets.
