Part 1
Aine is a long, action-packed, scary yet thrilling novel. I give it 5 stars. Written in third person, Aine's journey starts in Bristol England in 1700 and spans almost two centuries. She is happily engaged. Things go awry and she is turned into a vampire--an ultimate betrayal from the man she trusted and loved. The back story set up makes it impossible for Aine to fully relish her new life without taking revenge on her fiancé. The novel is filled with lots of supernaturals: werewolves, wit Part 1
Aine is a long, action-packed, scary yet thrilling novel. I give it 5 stars. Written in third person, Aine's journey starts in Bristol England in 1700 and spans almost two centuries. She is happily engaged. Things go awry and she is turned into a vampire--an ultimate betrayal from the man she trusted and loved. The back story set up makes it impossible for Aine to fully relish her new life without taking revenge on her fiancé. The novel is filled with lots of supernaturals: werewolves, witches, spirits, a shape-shifter and, of course, vampires. Although most of novel is a traditional story, a poem and diary entries are scattered throughout.

I've read several of Mark Mackey's novels. He has a unique writing style which incorporates good detail to grammar. Like the other books, Aine is mostly conversational and gives little details, leaving my mind happily open to its own imagination.

I was given this novel for an honest review. Kudos to the author for another wonderful novel. Due to some violence and sexual content, which is reference yet not describe in full detail, I recommend this for older teens plus.

Part 2

Part two leaves off from part one. The chapters are shorts and in book two, you start with chapter 83. As with the first book, this second one contains journal entries and is written in third person, mostly conversational.

My only negative comment is I felt some areas could have been taken out and I didn't know where the story was leading. It is why I give this part 4 stars. In part one Aine set forth a revenge against William, Aine's ex-fiancé, who had turned her. I thought she'd return to looking for him in part two. Perhaps it was wishful thinking or an assumption on my part but Aine didn't. There's a lot of characters and things that occur that involve revenge but William is left out other than briefly. Through failed romances Aine gave up on love. Despite this being stated several times throughout part 2, which spans from 1888 to 2011, I didn't understand until the end that this was where the story was leading. I won't state with whom Aine falls in love with or if she does. You'll have to read it for yourself.

My favorite character was Lisandra, a kick-butt powerful witch. She is easily a good friend, who tries to please her friends. Mack Mackey's imagination and what Lisandra did amazed me, in a good believable way.

That being said if you like part one, part two won't be a disappointment. If anything, it's filled with more magic, demons, and other supernatural beings. Well done Mack Mackey!

I thought this book was awesome a poor innocent girl is turned to be a vampire because of her people in the past. I cant wait to read more of this authors books.
