Liked this one better than book 1. I still dislike many things about Justine, but was happy that other characters called her on her issues, and there was more action. One of those "grey area" books where the characters are into some very shady business. The whole idea of disillusionment and the "high cap" powers was really interesting - I liked the world building and the side characters. A cliffhanger ending, so if you dislike those, then maybe wait to read this one until its closer to book 3's

Ah...*sigh* Here I was thinking that I wouldn't be as affected by the heartbreaking ending when I re-read the book as I was the first time when I read it (considering that now I knew it was coming and everything). Well, I was wrong. *wipes tears* It still hurts, I still feel like punching someone, I still don't like Otto (to put it mildly) and the similarities with certain events from my real life are still crazy and astonishing. And I still believe Carolyn Crane is a genius!:D Now, ont ...more

Updated review. I really liked this second installment in the disillusionists Trilogy, and very thankful that book three is coming out in December, because two ends with alot to be resolved! I know alot of people don't like first person narrative, but I never have a problem with it. And what I noticed about his book, was the author's clever way of Justine learning about Packard and Otto's past. I thought it really worked well. We are still learning some surprising things about who can be trusted
