This is my first time reading a Probst, and will definitely not be my last. She hit the NY Times and USA Today bestseller list after this, and for good reason. This is an author to keep an eye out for. I love that she was able to take a used theme like this and twist it into something funny, sweet, and addicting. And fresh! An author who knows her characters and how to plot, as well. Bravo.

THE MARRIAGE TRAP
Billionaire Michael Conte needs to find a fiancé to satisfy his late father's wishes so his younger sister may marry to have her happily-ever-after. Free-spirit Maggie Ryan does not fit into his traditional world, but she'd get something out of this arrangement if she agrees to help. Both may find that they are just what each other needs.
I was looking forward to reading Maggie's story, as I fell in love with her as a secondary in the first book. This didn't disappoint. And Michael is hot! I love the "love spell" element to these stories. It gives the books a cute tie-in. Perfect setting in rural Italy, adoring family, and steamy scenes. Not to be missed.

THE MARRIAGE MISTAKE
Carina Conte has had a crush on her older brother's best friend since she was a girl. But when she casts a love spell on Max Gray, he doesn't overlook her anymore. And now they find themselves in a compromising position that may just bind them forever.
My only quirk with this book is the blurb gives away the entire plot, and the big twist doesn't befall until more than halfway through. I kinda felt cheated. In saying that, since we first met Carina in the other books, I couldn't wait for her to get her man. This was not without the touching moments and humor Probst draws readers into, as well as the deep-rooted family ties. It was so nice to see Carina's journey growing up and watching her become a woman too. Recommended.

*Note: Michael's other sister, Julietta, receives the love spell book at the end of the last story from Carina. Not sure if there is another book coming with her or not.

This is my first book by the author Jennifer Probst, after reading it I realized that there was a first book called The Marriage Bargain, but you really don't miss out on anything. The Marriage Trap was about two totally different people, but the characters from the first book are also in it.

The series also revolves around this little purple love spell book and I know from reading this book that Alexa from the first book did a spell and got her man, now Maggie thinks it's stupid b but she right This is my first book by the author Jennifer Probst, after reading it I realized that there was a first book called The Marriage Bargain, but you really don't miss out on anything. Qualities that she thinks no man could ever fit and burns in then forgets she ever did it.

Maggie never forgot the really bad set up date she had with Michael Conte. She had thought the date went well but Michael sort of cast her to the side. He is Alexa and Nicks friend so she has to put up with him but she doesn't have to like him. She also thinks he has a thing for her friend Alexa and is fiercely protective of her friend and her brother, so she will do anything to get Michael away from them. Maggie is a great character and I really liked her devotion to her friend and brother, you could tell she would be like that to anyone she loved.

Michael, is a sexy Italian that I am sure has all women drooling. Any man who can be all sexy and macho but bend over backwards for his family has got to be great. So when he has a family problem and needs a wife fast, he figures asking Maggie would be the best way to go. He knows that she hates him, so she would make the perfect fake wife.

Living in close quarters sets of a lot of sexual tension as each come to term with the fact that they might not be right for each other but they can't help the attraction. Each thinking that if they could just have one night together they could get it out of their system and go their separate ways, but love is a complicated thing.

Jennifer write all her characters in a way that really makes you love the main characters as well as all the secondary characters. I love Mama Conte, she was the perfect blend of Italian spirit and brings the old world Italian ways to life.

I will admit I prefer my romances to be a little less steamy than this series seems to be, but it didn't stop me from jumping right into the next book The Marriage Mistake! I know I like a book when it doesn't feel like a chore to read and breezes by, so I would recommend this book if you are a fan of romance.

The fall off between this book and the first book in the series "The Marriage Bargain" was pretty steep and the only blame for that is the heroine. She was an absolute Butchy pain in the ass. That plus the author started tossing in some Dom references and mild feelings of it kinda took me off of my high from the first book. I have the third book and hope for better but the author need to totally follow the K.I.S.S. method if she has hopes of the series staying sweet and fresh and uncomplicated. ...more

Listened to this on audio really loved the narrator - story was fluent and enjoyable :D
Didnt fall in love with these characters as much as the first book but still a good audio and story.
