Bang on writing in "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson that is so good I found myself feeling the anxiety of the lead character Melinda. I literally felt tongue-tied at times and almost claustrophobic. At other times I felt such frustration that I wanted to yell at her to speak up because I was so absorbed into the story. Anderson's writing is that real. I really liked this book. The writing style was different from any other I've ever read. But that was one thing that made the book so good. Had the writing style not been the way it was I don't think I would have liked the book as much as I did. Also the book sends a good message and inspires a lot of people to speak about what has happened to them. I recommend that everyone read this book. ...more
