It doesn't matter how many times I read this book, I find something new to love about these characters.

Another update: Life has been crazy with the pandemic, politics, personal events; I couldn't concentrate on reading. I decided to revisit old friends via audio books for the past couple months. I know their stories and I love how they comfort me. These characters and their stories make me smile, laugh, cry, and ease my soul. This series continues to be as good today as it was in the 90s.

Update 2: I listen to this book often and love it just as much as the first time.

Update: I read this book more than twice but it was before Goodreads. Now I mostly listen to the series because I love Susan Ericksen. She does an excellent job bringing the characters to life. This series is full of the "feels" for me. Listening to Susan E tell the stories makes it so much better.

I don't know what I did but I deleted my original review. I'm back listening to this book after listening to a later novella. I like to go back to the beginning to remember how Eve & Roarke got together.

This book is one of my favorite starts to a series. I first read Naked in Death years ago. JD Robb hooked me immediately and I wanted to know what was going to happen next with Eve & Roarke. I didn't know how they were going to progress as a couple.

First the procedural process is intriguing and well done. It pulls the reader into the story to work through the clues with Eve. I enjoy that part of the book a lot. The subject matter is dark and gruesome while retaining the entertainment factor.

The futuristic technology is a lot more today than it was the first time I read the book. There are some aspects that are still near future, like the auto chef and the interplanetary travel but the personal communicators sound a lot like cell phones or apple watches.

The relationship building is my favorite part of the book and the series. Eve, the by the book cop and Roarke the former criminal work perfectly as a couple. ...more
