Huge, HUGE fan of this book. And oh how relevant to what's happening in today's society, it's uncanny. With so many brilliant phrases and meaningful metaphors, almost my entire book is underlined. Powerful.

I have known about Fahrenheit 451 for a long time, as it is mentioned on most classic lists as a must read. To be honest I had no clue what it was about. When I picked it up at the library I was surprised how short it was, just a 160 pages. I finished it a couple of days ago and I still have difficulties actually formulating how I feel about this book. I am going to try anyway.

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury Wow, just wow... This is quite the prophetic read.
In a world where ignorance is indeed bliss; fast cars, inane chattering and 'the family' are all everyone needs. The threat of war is treated with such blasé disregard that no one even thinks twice about how it will affect them, because bad things only ever happen to someone else. The parallels between the book and modern society are scary, and a stark reminder of the direction the world is headed...

If it weren't for the last ten pages filled with Granger's insufferably patronising speeches of I'd give the book solid four stars.
