Now, I know it's commonplace to compare any book nowadays to the atrocity that is Twilight but with this book, I found much more of a similarity to the Vampire Dairies series by L.J. Smith more than anything else.

Elena Gilbert is the blonde, beautiful, popular girl who became melancholy and mournful after the death of her parents in a car crash that only she survived. One thing leads to the next and she soon falls for the mysterious transfer student, Stefan, in which a romance blooms. Stefan is after Elena at first because she reminds him of his past lost love, Elizabeth. This leads Elena to be entangled in a age-old fight between two vampire brothers, Stefan and Damon Salvatore.

Ever Bloom was a blonde, beautiful, popular girl of her school, that is until her family died in a car crash that only she survived. She is left alone to be depressed, angst-ridden, and melancholy and transforms her self into an "outcast freak." One pop culture cliche leads to the next and Ever them finds herself falling for a mysterious new student, an "immortal" Damon Auguste, where a shallow romance begins. Turns out that Damon had been chasing after Ever because he was in love with her in her past lives and wants to "love" her.

Sound similar? I thought so.

This book borderlines cliche to the point of being a satire. It takes a very unoriginal concept and plays it straight without adding anything new or interesting. This book was extremely boring, I practically had to force myself through it and I tossed it about ten pages to the end. Ever Bloom is just an extremely bland and annoying Mary-Sue who is given more superpowers than superman, Damon Auguste is a boring love interest and lacks personality, the villain is a pathetic tacked-on afterthought with superficial motives, and the rest of the supporting cast are too one-dimensional to care about.

This book was like a complete copy of twilight. There were many things about this book that just bothered me as I was reading it like the way the characters were so shallow and unrealistic- sound familiar? There were so many things I didn't like about this book, however I won't list all of them because I will feel like I am just repeating what I said about twilight only slightly different, obviously. But the main things are how the characters, the story, the message, even the way it was written ...more
