It took a bit to finish this book because it was big and the crazyness of life. It started a little slow for me but it was really interesting and it kept me coming back to it. The more and more I read the better and better it got. By time I was half way through the book I couldn't put it down. Waiting to read the next book.

I don't usually leave reviews...but this book was fantastic. It had everthing a book needs. History, suspense, humor, romance...how she fit it all in with witches, vampires and other creatures I don't know. It wasn't clogged up and too rich in information. It was wonderful. I was sad when it was over.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has magic, mystery and romance, everything I would want in a novel. This is a strong debut. The start was a little slow, building up the setting, but it's worth the wait. Deborah is an amazing writer, she has done her research well. Her imagination, along with her historical knowledge is immense. She weaves in parts of history like the Salem Witch trials and Olde England to give the story depth and realism.

She's supposed to have skills with athletics (because of the rowing and yoga) yet, she can't seem to even walk and the lets the vampire c ...more

Apparently, this book was meant to be. I discovered it by chance at work, later read a positive review in the newspaper, then another good review in a magazine and when I came here to GR to add it to my wishlist, I saw that it was eligible to win in a giveaway. What do you know, I entered and won a copy! but, aside from all that, it actually was a good book. It started a little on the slow side, but once I got in, I didn't want to put this down. I was surprised by all the science involved with a
