As guilty-pleasure books go, this one is aces: it's written in a breezy, catchy style that keeps the pages turning, and the plot is loaded with magic and romance. I say it's a "guilty" pleasure because it's really a chick lit book at heart--there's nothing the least bit challenging here, and the male characters especially come across less like believable human beings and more like Love Interest-shaped tokens dropped into the narrative at the appropriate points. This story of two sisters taking two very different paths is just a good read. And the bond between the sisters show great depth of character development.

Just loved it.

I picked this one up because of the reviews and thought it would be interesting. There were some things that reminded me of sayings I grew up with and that drew me along with the slow-building prose.

There was a premise of mystery and I enjoyed it along with the characters but not as much depth as I prefer. Will try some more of this author even though this one isn't my favorite. She is talented and the way she writes draws me in.

I loved it because it reads like a fairy tale. A great book to read on a beautiful summer night. I wish she would write more about the Owenses.
