This is one of the books the Latinx community recommends you read instead of American Dirt as it is written by a POC. I’m really surprised they are backing it so much because it’s filled with Negative stereotypes - including the wife beating husband and the immigrants operating a business with suits that “fell off a truck”. Don’t get me started on the 15 year old being married off to a 30 something year old, gross..... This just didn’t work for me and I don’t recommend it.
The story is a beautiful and engaging insight into a minority culture. A few anachronisms in object and word were a brief distraction.

I didn't get attached to these characters as much as I'm used to. I wanted to love this book. Good story, realistic plot but it didn't hit the mark for me.
