[close] I was presently surprised when I realized that the protagonists of this Stephen King horror novel are...elderly! King, as usual, does a phenomenal job developing the characters. The story line is complex with countless unpredictable (but very believable) twists and turns. The themes are equally complex, touching on important topics such as old age and death, being a widow/widower, free will, the presence of God(s) in the real world, hyper-reality, mental illness, abortion, sexism, etc., all seamlessly incorporated into a phenomenal story. I usually have trouble with books this long, but this one was easy to get into and really drew me in.
