Since reading it, I have enjoyed the story of Jane Eyre. It's tragic, and romantic, and lovely to read. This gives me another perspective on that story; when looked at in light of this take on "Bertha", the story of Jane Eyre is terrible and Mr. Rochester is repugnant. I love that this new perspective gives more depth to that story and makes me think about the other work, rather than looking at it from my previously limited perspective. This short novel seeks to tell readers of Jane Eyre what made the madwoman in the attic mad. Told from varying viewpoint I found it a little hard to follow as I thought one person was speaking when it was another.

Lush, beautifully written. It was hard to follow at times, but I enjoyed it. Loved the descriptions of the tropics, Antionette is a very interesting character with many layers, many hard to reach. This tells the story from different points of view, tragic for both main characters.
