I really...really love this book. So much so that I bought the movie to recapture the feeling of the novel. It is dark and haunting, I know that a lot of reviews leave the impression it's a graphic, morbid read but if that's all a person can take from it, I don't think they truly understood it. I loved some parts of this book - the descriptions of how things smelt and how perfumes were made - but the murders and such left me cold. There wasn't really anything too gruesome, but nothing that attention grabbing either. I suppose that was supposed to be a reflection of the almost passionless way Grenouille went about his life task... No spoilers, but the ending was pretty odd! ...more

A classic - it is bizarre - but one of my favorite books. Actually - it is also great in norwegian audiobook version ( Norwegian translation - narrated by Thoralf Maurstad)
