This book was rated in the top 10 books of 2011. I wonder who voted?

I have been reading this book for 136 pages. I didn't care about it on page 1, and I still don't. Here's why: I have no idea who the main character is. She is an adult and a doctor, but that is really all I know. Why should I care about her? I still ask, which is not a good sign for finding myself on page 136.

This book skips around a lot, but I'm not even sure the author knows why because so

I loved this book, and how Obreht wove folktales into the telling of Natalia's relationship with her grandfather and her grief at his loss. Simple and sweet storytelling. <3
