Irritating and repetitive writing style. Rather than focusing on a narrative, it felt like the author had a list of "African issues" to educate her readers about (HIV, FGM, etc.), which seemed to be the sole point of many anecdotes and chapters. Tries to give so much "local colour" that she forgets about writing a human story. Widely misses the mark.
