I feel somewhat guilty giving this book three stars because I feel as though it's an important novel and that I SHOULD like it(because of Kundera)But, I really found it quite difficult to appreciate. The characters of Tomas and Tereza are very memorable, but the "voice" of the novel seemed to vacillate among the characters, the narrator (whose nebulous identity I was never able to discern), and the author himself.
