The Coroner's Lunch by Colin Cotterill was an intriguing tale of Dr. Siri, the national coroner of communist Laos in 1975. Siri, at age 72, is bright, quick, funny, and wise all at the same time. He's never afraid to speak his mind, which is often what finds him in the most trouble. The Coroner's Lunch was quite tasty. Aside from the vivid characterization, there was also some wonderful paranormal content. I liked the fact that the protagonist's spirit dreams required interpretation. This means that it can be challenging to use them as clues in the mystery. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series. ...more

I was quite taken with this book until................... well, let me say the good stuff first. It was funny, the characters were funny and the situations all were good for a laugh. I thought it was very cleverly written and was in the process of really enjoying this book until the exorcisms started.
