Set in the late 19th century rural West Africa, Things Fall Apart provides a glimpse into the Igbo society and their culture. While the book succeeds in fairly portraying the tribulations faced by the Igbo community and its stark contrast against the cruel european imperialism, it might come down heavy on some for the bare animism, brutal superstitions, sexism and social depravity pandemic in the tale.
