What a brilliant book! Michael K sets of from civil war torn Cape Town to tske his ailing mother back to her home in the country. In scenes reminiscent of Kafka he eventually sets off with her in a vehicle he has created to push along. His travels are fraught with appalling events but his humanity is what comes out at the end. The narration is sparse but every word draws you in to the character. Highly reccomended!
