I'd read this book before but found the rereading allowed me to enjoy the quality of the writing which brought the area alive on the page.
The story is about twins Rahel and estha and the events around the visit of their cousin sophie mol from England. The cast characters was at times confusing as we know at the outset that the twins grown up had been separated following certain events and as we revisit those events we learn of the complex family history. Really could not get on with this one. I didn't find the characters engaging and I didn't always like the writing style. The things that happen to the family are tragic, but it didn't evoke any empathy, just sadness.
