I was deeply touched by the lovestory between Achilles and Patroklos. An amzing retelling of the Troyan War.

3.5 I think. Finally got round to reading this. Think it's been on my TBR for around 10 years!
Think it did a good job of having poetic prose and keeping an epic-like feel to the story - all very nice and reflective of the story's origins - but unfortunately this meant it felt a bit alien, empty and cold at times. And the characters felt one dimensional.
I'm a silly modern reader after all and I guess I was expecting more than just a simple retelling of the Achilles and Patroclus story for people ...more

I am a huge fan of books based on Egyptian mythology and thanks to Madeline Miller's The Song Of Achilles, I am sucked into Greek mythology as well. Patroclus, the trusted companion (and lover) of Achilles narrates the story and through his eyes the demi-god-hero seems so humane with a warm heart. I would also highly recommend the audio book narrated by Frazer Douglas. His voice as Patroclus is beyond beautiful.
