I heard this was a good book, but with my total lack of interest in things sporting, I really had my doubts about "it" and "me." Was I in for a big surprise!

From the very start, reading this book was like sitting in a movie and seeing an exciting story start playing out before the eyes. And it just wasn't a story on a flat screen, either. Shelves: audio-book, non-fiction, wwii

I don't like when book summaries start with a sentence like "For readers of Laura Hillenbrand's Seabiscuit and Unbroken". I haven't read Seabiscuit, but I have read Unbroken, and other than the same time period and same Olympic games, the books where nothing alike.
The Boys in the Boat is a good story, but I felt the story was just so long and even though I've been involved in rowing (shortly), and I loved it, all the writing about rowing and competitions got tedious.

Truly loved this inspiring story. Admired the grit and determination of these young men, the hardships they overcame, and their fierce dedication to each other. Great book for all, not just the athletically inclined. Narration was excellent and did not detract from the story.
