I read this book as part of my quest to write a book written by an author from every country in the world. The author of this book grew up in El Salvador.
It would be difficult to say that I 'enjoyed' this book, given that it describes the 'fictional' killing of the native Indians by the government. I say 'fictional' because there are a number of times in El Salvadoran history when the native population was viciously killed by those in power.

The story could have been riveting, but the rambling sentence style ruined by enjoyment of it.
