All that to teach the value of work? I must say that I like the second half of the book a lot better than the first half of the book. I have not read many books by literary satirist and this book gave me a lot to think about. Candide's philosopher and friend lived by the belief that "all is well with the world" despite all the supporting reasons to believe otherswise.
