I'm fairly sure we have more than one version of this. We definitely have a version illustrated by Arthur Rackham and including the proem by Austin Dobson.

I liked so many things about this book - the inquisitive girl, the curious wonderland, the morals and lessons taught by each character and the detailed pictures (a different copy of what is shown on Goodreads). Lanse told me her eyes look funny and I think he is right. It is a clever little book.
