It is a strange thing to find yourself looking forward with a smile to reading such a serious book all because of a line from a song in "The Music Man" where the ladies allude to the scandal of reading Balzac. I have now completed that task, and must be quite the scandalous person...I loved the book!

Balzac is quite detail-oriented and so many find the book tedious to read...especially in the first two chapters where he gives such detail of the characters and the place that they are living in. So
